It was super fun being a part of the Broncos festivities today–especially since we kicked some Patriots butt. We’re heading to the Super… oh wait… “The Big Game!”
I spent the morning with a few of my teammates giving away Broncos beads for donations for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Each dollar helps me personally get to Hawaii and compete in this year’s Lavaman Triathlon.
Today I had multiple strangers come up to me and say, “THANK YOU for being out here. I’m a cancer survivor // or my daughter is // and we’re so grateful you’re doing this.” Those people gave and gave and gave. It was inspiring. In fact, one of the Broncos parking staff came up to me and told me her story of survival. Almost in tears, she put a couple dollars in the purple bucket and sported a few orange and blue beads.
Today, we were united in Orange AAAAND Purple.
But even through the amount given today, I’m behind in my fundraising. I’m supposed to be halfway there by this Tuesday and, currently, I’m at a quarter. I’m so grateful to all those who’ve given thus far: Jason, Grammie, Glenda, Jason, Chris, Mom, Lindsay, and a few of you crazy anonymous people. You make up the first 25 percent and are my gems forever. The sooner I can raise the rest of the funds the more I can stop worrying about whether or not I’ll actually get to Hawaii and can focus more on my training.
Will you help me get to the Triathlon Super Bowl?
Please consider it. I have more exciting posts coming in the next few days. Love to you all!
